Miss B - Surrey

Our client,  a single mother with 3 children paid her landlord £950 as a deposit at the start of her tenancy. The tenancy ended 3 months before, and deductions were made for general wear and tear. Our client got in touch with us, and we established the deposit had never been protected throughout the tenancy. The ladnlord refused to cooperate, so IMDP took him to court, and the tenant was refunded the deductions, and awarded compensation of £2,000 + costs.

Our client paid his letting agent £1,400 as a deposit, 3 months later, the deposit was still not protected despite numerous requests. He contact IMDP, and 3 months later received an award of £5,600 + Costs in compensation, plus the return of his deposit

Our clients, a large family of 4 children paid his landlord £2,600 as a deposit at the start oif their tenancy. The landlord refused to protect the deposit, and so our clients got in touch IMDP. We wrote to the landlord reminding him of his obligations and of the pending court action, and this case was settled out of court, with our clients deposit being protected being awarded £4,000 + Costs in compensation
